Ihilani Surprise
This past weekend, we decided to take a short vacation and do an over-nighter at the Ihilani Resort. We also decided to make it a surprise for Blake. So we started out the day by dropping Michelle off at work. She would be finishing early, at around 9:00, so Blake and I were just going to hang around to kill some time. We told him that we would go drive around the island and find a beach to go to.
So we started off at Starbucks and then walked around Kakaako park, which by the way, is over run with cats. I'm not sure if you can see in the picture, but there were 3 cats on the sign and we must have seen at least 50 more through out the park and I can only guess at how many were hiding the brush.
Anyway, we finally got to Ihilani and Blake was thoroughly surprised. He had no clue until we checked in. We spent the rest of the day and most of the next swimming at the beach and at the pool and hanging out in the room. We totally lucked out because a friend of Michelle's upgraded us to a suite. The room was huge. It was actually a regular sized bedroom with a foyer and a side tv room. Plus it had a huge bathroom with a king sized jacuzzi.
We had a great weekend and a well deserved and much needed break.

Gamer Bus
Blake was invited to a birthday party over the weekend. One of the boys on his All-Star team was celebrating his 13th birthday. His mom decided to throw his party at the baseball field, which was appropriate I guess since he invited over the entire team.
The highlight of the party was a bus that they hired out that was packed with video games. Yeah, we will be at the park....in a bus. But it turned out to be pretty cool. The bus had 8 XBox 360s in there. Leather seats, LCD panel, and Air Condition. Yeah..it was awesome. We (I mean they) played Halo3 and Call of Duty. I actually did get a chance to play, but the kids basically just beat up on me. It wasn't pretty. They didn't even waste any bullets on me...just ran up behind me and clubbed me with their guns...those punks.
Later in the day the parents played a couple of rounds of Project Gotham Racing....that was really cool too. The graphics were spectacular and the cars were really easy to handle. They also had a Wii setup outside the bus on a 42" LCD to play as everyone waited for their turn in the bus.

Sad Day
Sad day yesterday...Cash past away.
Michelle was home taking care of her and she had a slight seizure and past away.
For the past 2-3 months, she could not walk and Michelle has been taking care of her, feeding her by hand and making sure she was clean and comfortable. We took her to the vet several times and he told us that other than the fact that she could not walk, she was healthy and not in any pain.
Goodbye Cashy...we love you and will miss you.

4th of July Weekend
We had a busy, but very fun, 4th of July Weekend.
We spent most of the week and part of the weekend renovating Blake's room. We decided that it was time to clear out the "kiddie" stuff and make the room a bit more suitable for a pre-teen. So out went the stuffed animals and most of the older games, toys, and books. We donated a lot of stuff to Goodwill and to the Public Library, so that was good. We also decided that we would put a TV cable in his room as well. Hopefully he will be able to follow the rules and only watch TV when he has all his other work and responsibilities done.
I also decided to wire up his room and the other upstairs rooms with Internet cable. It's not all connected yet, but the more difficult runs in the attic to all the rooms are all in there. Hopefully I'll be able to connect the downstairs and upstairs together so we will have Internet access in the entire house before the end of the summer.
On the 4th, we invited a bunch of friends over for dinner. It's been a while since we had people over. Been just too busy with baseball and school. Blake and his friends popped some fireworks out front and the adults hung out in the Hut out back. Fun fun fun. I'm not sure how it is in other places, but Hawaii people just love fireworks.
After recovering and finishing up the renovations on Saturday, we decided to spend Sunday out at the beach. We met the Teruyas at Ala Moana beach park early in the morning to get some good parking. We got to try out a Paddleboard for the first time. It's not as easy as it looks. It took Michell and I a while to be able to stand on it without falling off...and we were inside the reef in the calm water. Eventually we were able to go up and down the entire beach without falling off every few feet or so. Of course the kids just jumped right on there with no problems at all and were paddling all over the place....those showoffs.
Anyway, hope you all had a happy and safe 4th of July.

This is Blake's All-Star team. We lost in the final qualifying game and didn't get a chance to go to Kauai for the State tournament. We had a tough bracket with Mililani and Aiea, who were probably the top teams in the State. They ended up taking the spots in our bracket.
It was a fun post-season though. The team was talented and the kids were great. Plus I learned a lot about coaching from the Mid-Pac baseball coach. His son was on the team and he was able to coach the team.
