We had a busy, but very fun, 4th of July Weekend.
We spent most of the week and part of the weekend renovating Blake's room. We decided that it was time to clear out the "kiddie" stuff and make the room a bit more suitable for a pre-teen. So out went the stuffed animals and most of the older games, toys, and books. We donated a lot of stuff to Goodwill and to the Public Library, so that was good. We also decided that we would put a TV cable in his room as well. Hopefully he will be able to follow the rules and only watch TV when he has all his other work and responsibilities done.
I also decided to wire up his room and the other upstairs rooms with Internet cable. It's not all connected yet, but the more difficult runs in the attic to all the rooms are all in there. Hopefully I'll be able to connect the downstairs and upstairs together so we will have Internet access in the entire house before the end of the summer.
On the 4th, we invited a bunch of friends over for dinner. It's been a while since we had people over. Been just too busy with baseball and school. Blake and his friends popped some fireworks out front and the adults hung out in the Hut out back. Fun fun fun. I'm not sure how it is in other places, but Hawaii people just love fireworks.
After recovering and finishing up the renovations on Saturday, we decided to spend Sunday out at the beach. We met the Teruyas at Ala Moana beach park early in the morning to get some good parking. We got to try out a Paddleboard for the first time. It's not as easy as it looks. It took Michell and I a while to be able to stand on it without falling off...and we were inside the reef in the calm water. Eventually we were able to go up and down the entire beach without falling off every few feet or so. Of course the kids just jumped right on there with no problems at all and were paddling all over the place....those showoffs.
Anyway, hope you all had a happy and safe 4th of July.
